Maëlle Gengler

Born in Luxembourg to an Italian mother and Belgian father, Maëlle Gengler is 24 years old and speaks five languages. She participated in the ‘My Echo, My Shadow and Me’ project for Esch 2022. She worked with Cristina Nuñez at the Luxembourg Penitentiary Centre in 2022 and 2023 and is being trained by Nuñez as a SPEX facilitator. She has led SPEX workshops at the National Adult Education Centre and online.

After the sale of the family home in Clemency, the filmmaker embarks on an introspective journey across Europe, revisiting the places that shaped her family's history. Between Belgium and Italy, she explores the homes of her father and her maternal great-grandfather, searching for a lost connection. Heem, Heemescht? is a poetic film about loss, memory and the search for an inner home.
