BACK
to the
ROOTS
Back to the Roots is a project comprising eight autobiographical short films made by a group of young people and adults from Luxembourg with roots in different countries and cultures. Our ancestors are an important part of our identity, and often the events that happen to us and even our character are linked to what they experienced. Through images and/or films from the family album, in dialogue with our self-portraits, the aim is to find connections and meanings in family events and relationships, perhaps to further our development and clarify our place in the world, perhaps to allow us to free ourselves from the family ‘burdens’ that we unconsciously carry.
Films directed by KENZA HALIMA BIANCO • SHADE CUMINI • CLAIRE DI FELICE • KRYSTYNA DUL • KEVEN ERICKSON • MAËLLE GENGLER• JEAN-CHRISTOPHE PETERS • Executive director CRISTINA NUÑEZ • Produced by ART AS EXPERIENCE ASBL • Edited by NICOLÀS AUGER • Artistic director PAUL DI FELICE • Original idea, workshop leadership and coordination CRISTINA NUÑEZ

EMoSEE
EMoSEE is a transformative photography project involving 80 Luxembourgish youth and SEPAS professionals in 7 educational institutions in a series of self-portrait workshops to transforme motions into art. The artworks produced will be shown in 4 exhibitions, at the Grund Tunnel, neimënster, online and in the interactive EMoSEE Cube, which will itinerate in Luxembourgish high schools. The project has been commissioned by CEPAS and supported by MENJE, Ministère de la Culture, Ville de Luxembourg, Œuvre Nationale de Secours and Fondation Sommer.

MY ECHO, MY SHADOW AND ME
'My Echo, My Shadow and Me' is an art and social project on the topic of how digital culture influences the identity of younger generations and how technological tools (e.g. cameras, smartphones and social media) can be used as a method of investigation and understanding of the self and one’s own community. The project has regular autobiographical workshops at its core, led by artist and facilitator Cristina Nuñez between February and June 2022, and involving groups of local young people (15-26) that produced participative artworks with an autobiographical focus and a social ethos.
